An art historian, curator, art advisor, independent writer and artist, Marcela Torres has been involved in art all her life. She holds an undergrad degree in Fine Arts from the University of La Palta, Argentina(2005-2010). Also, Curatorial practice courses at OCAD University (2015), and Entertainment Administration course at Ryerson University(2015). Curated collective and solo art exhibits in Argentina and Canada. Also, as an artist I participate in many art exhibitions in Argentina, Canada, and the USA.
She currently works as a curator at Casa Loma, one of Toronto’s most visited tourist attractions, Canada.
Role and expertise:
-Caretaker of the Art collection and artifacts related to Casa Loma’s history.
-Receiving, preparing and cataloging new acquisitions and existing collection.
-Organize and promote and plan exhibition permanent and temporary exhibition
-Preservation, maintenance, and cataloging of the collection on view, in storage, and on loan.
-Collaborated with artists to develop site-specific installations and exhibitions
-Managing and writing the policy, processes, and procedures related to Fine Art.
-Write the didactic text for wall labels, brochures, website content.
-Organize and assist production companies when filming
